THE BEST OF THE BASICS WITH UNIQLO

Perth finally has its own UNIQLO store!

My first foray with UNIQLO was in 2012 when I moved to New York in the dead of Winter. Let me tell you, a little Perth girl living in -20C temperatures is an interesting combination! I remember waltzing into the 3 story UNIQLO store in Soho after being told their Heat Tech thermals were the bees knees (spoiler alert: they literally ARE the bees knees!) - and being totally overwhelmed (in the best way possible) with not only the epic-ness of the store but the array of basics as far as the eye could see. My dream land. I most definitely walked out of that store that day armed with the Heat Tech thermals I was looking for and also a supply of t-shirts and cashmere sweaters which still have their rightful place in my wardrobe to this day in 2018.

Fast forward a few years in Perth where we FINALLY have our own UNIQLO store and everyone I know is just as excited as I am about it. After getting a little sneak peak of the store before it opened, it's safe to say I left with armfuls of new t-shirts, cashmere sweaters, blouses and denim with dreams of returning for more items in the very near future. Funnily enough, my other half, Rohan (the guy behind the lens!) loves UNIQLO too - we recently stocked up his wardrobe when we were on the east coast of Australia a few months ago, and now some more pieces now UNIQLO has arrived in Perth. Yep, I’ve trained him well!

Now onto some of my current favourite UNIQLO pieces. I've mentioned it time and time again - but basics are life - there's just something about creating a look with basics that makes me happy! The simpler things in life, let's say. My picks from the new UNIQLO include the basic U-Crew t-shirts (got myself a white and black, and will be going back for a gorgeous millennial pink!), the stretch denim jeans, rayon blouses and the comfiest lightweight puffer jacket.

LOOK ONE:

BLACK-ON-BLACK

You guys know how much of a sucker I am for an all black outfit, so I couldn’t resist putting some of my favourite UNIQLO basics together create a super relaxed weekend look. Matching the basic black U-Crew t-shirt with a pair of Stretch denim jeans, I created my ultimate simple, casual and comfortable outfit - a combination I will most certainly be sporting throughout Spring! As the temperatures are still yet to warm up property, I threw on an Ultra Light Down Jacket (in a few sizes too big for comfort and oversized fit, hehe) and I may have created one of the most comfortable Sunday outfits ever.

LOOK TWO:

WHITE-ON-WHITE

These two pieces spoke to me as I was browsing through the Perth UNIQLO store - a pair of wide leg white pants and a white long sleeve rayon blouse that would match back with so many of my other wardrobe favourites. It doesn’t get much better than that, don’t you think?!

Maybe it was because Spring is finally starting to appear (YAY!), or maybe it was because the pieces felt so luxe, but I needed them in my wardrobe - stat!

I’m very much loving the subtle button detail on the back of the Rayon blouse, and don’t get me started on the wide leg and pleats of these pants. The are going to dress up the aforementioned Basic U-Crew Tees so perfectly as we move into warmer days here in Australia.

I didn’t actually believe I could pull off an all white ensemble like this one, but it’s definitely got me feeling very “Spring-like”

Are you also a lover of UNIQLO or yet to try? I’m so insanely excited that we now have a store to shop from at our fingertips - I’m definitely going to be a regular (and so is Rohan!)
